Are you living your passion?
Is this time of change and crisis causing you to think more deeply about the way you want to live?
Are you wondering if there are new ways to build a healthy livelihood and economy that would have a positive impact on your life and the lives of those you love?
Can you imagine how different the world would be if everyone was a leader in their own life, living in a way that truly expressed who they are?
What if the current crisis is an opportunity for us to co-create something new and better?
|
| At a time when the world appears to be coming undone, and we are in the midst of large scale social change, this timely visionary book says hello from Aotearoa - New Zealand, and offers some positive, practical answers to how we can evolve individually and collectively into a more peaceful, humane, co-creative society. |
A series of intimate interviews introduces twenty-five people and shows how, when we truly live our passion, we can move beyond self interest and begin to create a Whole New World. Alongside the chaos and crisis of crumbling institutions, rising prices, war and deepening debt, there is a new consciousness sweeping the planet, bringing with it a desire for life lived from the heart and soul.

Daring Donna: Love-in-action means taking responsibility
We have found, by creating conscious relationships, taking full responsibility for ourselves, and co-creating in a way of respect for all living things, in mutual support and resource, that we have surpassed what we thought was possible… All we simply do is “live our passion” and tune in to what excites us, what makes our hearts sing and what we have fun doing. It’s about each individual learning to take full responsibility for self: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially; each individual standing in her own power and in his own truth.
Donna: Welcome Everyone to the Garden |
The ordinary yet extraordinary people in this book are choosing to uncompromisingly live their passion by grounding this new consciousness in practical, innovative projects. Covering a spectrum of interests from sustainable housing to community building and new models of business, these people and their projects:
- revitalize individual lives
- deepen relationships
- enliven communities
- make businesses more people friendly
- and provide solutions for living more simply on the Earth.
They’re a testament to the fact that individual courage and actions really do make a difference. |
James Samuel: Handling the basics
“I have a very strong sense the current form of society as it's promoted on tv is not sustainable. It's in deep trouble and that's reflected in all kinds of dysfunctions in society and communities. My interest is to support and find ways people can come to a greater place of trust with each other, and in part involves all the practical things which relate to food, shelter and clothing. If we handle those basics, all sorts of other wonderful creative possibilities exist for us to explore also. We can meet those needs in a way that is very, very gentle on our environment and creates a very gentle footprint.”

Robin Allison: Living in a more co-operative world
“Earthsong has evolved since 1989. I'd completed my degree, had two little children and was at the very beginning of my career, struggling a bit with mainstream architecture and where I fitted with it. That's when I found a co-housing book and it was one of those ah-ha moments. Yes, I want to live in this sort of community with all these social and environmental aspects! Co-housing is self-created community by people who want to live in a more co-operative world. Co-housing itself is about social organization; a group of people get together, talk about how they really want to live, then they start the whole process and develop housing, which is designed for intentional community, but also has safety and privacy. To that co-housing model, I also added the other half of it for me: the environmentally sustainable building, design, energy, and all of that…. I think it's more important to find a way to live more sustainably in cities than in rural areas; we need those solutions rather than building ever more houses in rural areas. So I refocused my attention on an urban or suburban community, based on co-housing principles, permaculture and sustainable building.

The interviews are a rich source of wisdom and show the journey we undertake when we willingly take a leap into the unknown and decide to live our passion. It’s a journey of learning to trust our inner truth and authority and to withdraw our dependence on outer authority. (This can be a bit like tuning in to the good news rather than being drained by the bad news). By learning to trust our inner world in this way we become self responsible, authentic, and empowered to create lives which express who we truly are, which are at the same time healthier for all concerned, and for the planet.

Rose Diamond: Living Your Passion means being authentic and choosing power-with rather than power-over
I think the challenge and the opportunity at this time, when so many social institutions are being deconstructed, or have become corrupted, is for each individual to find their own authentic truth… Authenticity is really about finding our connection with the rest of humanity, with nature and with cosmos, through being aligned with our highest truth and our authentic power. In order to make the evolutionary leap which I believe is possible for humanity at this time, we first have to experience our connectedness fully. The beauty of it is, the more truly we express the self, the more we connect. As soon as we realize we are essentially interconnected with every other being, we don’t have any other choice but to serve that interconnection. It becomes apparent we are not separate, and whatever we do, to or for another being, for good or ill, we also do, to or for our self.
Rose Diamond: Soul Work, the creative process in action

| These refreshing interviews are windows revealing a slice of each person’s life and consciousness. As “Living Your Passion” unfolds it becomes apparent these thoughtful, spirit-centered role models are early flowers of a new culture emerging throughout the world and growing alongside the old and ailing one. New Zealand is presented as a potentially peaceful, sustainable, soulful society at the growing edge of a new global culture. This timely book will encourage anyone hungry for meaningful change and a new way to live to be bold and follow their dream. |

Vivienne Wright: Coming together to make a difference
Right now I am in a place where my elemental desire is to know I’m making a difference at a time when the planet is at a pivotal stage in its evolution. I look into the future with a great deal of optimism. I believe we can achieve much if we come together on a commonly agreed platform of respect and sharing and work together towards a commonly agreed goal. It is time to find new ways of living together in harmony, with the greater good of all, our major objective.

Daniel Batten:
Our riches lie in community
It's just going back to what we human beings are designed to do. That's live as social animals in a community and give to each other and, when we have more than we need, share it with the rest of the community. A year and a bit ago, I was quite resistant in some ways to the notion of community because of my negative associations with it from media images. Sometimes, these barriers and preconceived ideas stop us experiencing joy. I want to encourage people to go beyond the words, limitations and associations, and come back to a place of truth, which is really experiencing Oneness. Community is an expression of that Oneness with other people, that sense of belonging. The more we belong, the more our own power and responsibility increase.

Tyla: My WHOLE NEW WORLD seed would be a peace seed. I would select this seed to stop all the fighting around the world. The peace seed would grow and all the fighting in the world would stop. All the children would get an education and the United States and Iraq will live in peace. My seed will grow into a world where everybody from different countries will be friends with each other.

Transformational skills for moving through crisis and transition
As well as providing much needed hope, inspiration and guidance, “Living Your Passion” is a pioneering work in the new science of Transformational Learning. |

|
Author Rose Diamond is a lifelong educator and former psychotherapist who has spent the last twelve years exploring the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary to move through this time of global transition. Rose brings together many different ideas and views into a balanced message of hope as she maps the journey to higher consciousness. She identifies eight essential pillars of Transformational Learning as well as specific vital personal and interpersonal skills and shifts of consciousness, all of which point to a new world metaphysics based on the essential interconnectedness, interdependence, and sacredness of all life. |
| Starting from a focus on New Zealand, Rose calls for a movement beyond nationalism to a globally responsible culture built on the recognition of the unity of consciousness and all life. |
 |
Woods Elliott: A whole new world view
“I see the special folks in your book as living examples of a new world view, a new metaphysics. World problems are so sewn together; we can't go on supporting individual-centered cultures any longer. We need to become a world balancing the self and the other, which can integrate the individual with an equally important communal and collective life. Normally we take on societal ways of doing things and we find a niche within the current social fabric. The notion, we're here to evolve new societal forms rather than remain stuck with what doesn't work, is new and different. Most people don't really yet know how to do that. We're so used to falling back on the cultural givens into which we're born and being very defined and limited by its older structures. |
We embrace a lot of things we don't necessarily have to embrace, because we don't think we have a choice. What we truly need, of course, is a whole new wave of social arrangements freeing us of the confinement of these older ways of doing things. In my view, Rose, you have succeeded in these refreshingly candid, novel interviews to suggest the new culture is deeply infused with richer spiritual meaning, of which we've been so bereft in the old culture. That's so hopeful!”
Woods Elliott
